The Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), continues to achieve excellence as students from the BTS3493 Artificial Intelligence course successfully secured positions in the Top 5 of the Altair AI Studio Challenge held in conjunction with Innovation Month 2025.

The competition, organised by CAIDaS in collaboration with ORS Technologies, was held from 2 December 2025 until 20 December 2025 and was open to all UMPSA students, either individually or in groups (maximum of three members with one mentor), including participation from lecturers.

A total of 28 students from the FTKEE BTS3493 Artificial Intelligence class submitted 14 group entries under the guidance of Dr. Marlina Yakno, the course lecturer. Participation in the competition was also incorporated as part of the course project assessment, providing students with real-world exposure to the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies at both industry and international levels.

As a result of their dedication and commitment, four groups from the class successfully secured places in the Top 5 best teams, with the competition results officially verified by Altair US.

The prize presentation ceremony for the winners was held as follows:

Warga FTKEE dijemput untuk hadir ke sesi Townhall bersama Naib Canselor UMPSA, satu platform penting untuk mendapatkan perkongsian terkini, hala tuju universiti serta ruang interaksi secara langsung bersama pengurusan tertinggi universiti.

The afternoon session of the International CSR Programme: Global Classroom, Knowledge Sharing and Academic Collaboration continued in a more relaxed and interactive atmosphere through the Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration Opportunities programme held at the BMU, FTKEE. The programme brought together academic staff, researchers, and representatives from FTKEE research groups under the AppECE, ICE, and SuPER clusters to create opportunities for expertise sharing and international collaboration with delegates from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Indonesia.

The session began with a presentation by Dr. Henny Pratiwi from the International Office of UNY, who shared insights into the academic and research ecosystem at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, including student activities, academic development, and the university’s learning culture. She also highlighted potential academic and research collaboration opportunities between UNY and UMPSA, including mobility programmes, academic exchanges, and future invitations for FTKEE lecturers and associates to share their expertise with students at UNY. The session opened pathways for broader international networking opportunities between the two institutions.

The programme continued with a more in-depth research sharing session by Dr. Muhammad Luthfi Hakim entitled “Flexible Strain Sensor for Human Motion Detection.” During the session, he explained how waste-based and sustainable materials are utilised in the development of flexible strain sensors for applications in human motion detection, biosensors, and soft robotics.

Dr. Luthfi also elaborated on the sensor fabrication process, sensitivity testing, durability tests, and the use of nanomaterials to enhance the performance of the developed flexible sensors. The presentation attracted strong interest from participants due to its integration of sustainable materials, smart sensors, and modern electronic applications. The two-way discussions throughout the session were highly engaging and eye-catching, particularly among FTKEE researchers who saw significant potential for future collaborative research opportunities.

The knowledge sharing session received an encouraging response from academic staff, students, and representatives from FTKEE research groups, especially from the AppECE, ICE, and SuPER clusters. The programme not only provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange but also sparked new ideas and strategic collaboration opportunities between FTKEE and UNY researchers in the fields of smart sensors, sustainable materials, flexible electronics, and advanced engineering technologies.

The programme concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony to the UNY delegates as a token of appreciation for their contributions in making the International CSR Programme: Global Classroom, Knowledge Sharing and Academic Collaboration a success.

The event ended at approximately 4:30 PM, followed by a light tea session and informal networking between the UNY delegation and the FTKEE community before the delegates departed.

Pada 29 April 2026, pihak Confucius Institute (CI), UMPSA Pekan berbesar hati menerima kunjungan seramai 63 orang pelajar bersama 4 orang guru pengiring dari Sekolah Menengah Sains Dungun.

Lawatan ini diadakan sebagai platform perkongsian ilmu dan khidmat masyarakat melalui pendedahan berkaitan kursus Bahasa Mandarin yang ditawarkan di UMPSA, di samping membuka ruang interaksi akademik yang lebih dekat bersama warga universiti. Turut berlangsung ialah sesi lawatan ke makmal dan fasiliti pembelajaran di Fakulti Teknologi Kejuruteraan Elektrik dan Elektronik (FTKEE) serta Fakulti Teknologi Kejuruteraan Mekanikal dan Automotif (FTKMA) bagi memperkenalkan program dual ijazah, teknologi terkini serta suasana pembelajaran di UMPSA.

Semoga lawatan ini menjadi pengalaman bermakna serta menyuntik inspirasi kepada para pelajar untuk terus melangkah jauh dalam bidang STEM dan pendidikan tinggi.
