On 11 May 2026, a delegation of lecturers and students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) conducted an academic visit to the Lumut Power Plant to gain direct exposure to the operation of electrical power generation systems in a real industrial environment.
The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the practical application of theories learned in class, particularly in the areas of power systems, energy generation, electrical system protection, as well as power plant operation and maintenance. Throughout the visit, the students were given detailed briefings on the electricity generation process, control and safety systems, and the technologies used to ensure the stability of energy supply.
In addition to the technical briefing sessions, participants also had the opportunity to visit several key sections of the power plant and interact directly with engineers and technical personnel on duty. This experience provided valuable insight into the actual industrial working environment and career opportunities within the energy sector.
The faculty would like to express its sincere appreciation to the management and staff of Lumut Power Plant for their warm hospitality and willingness to share their knowledge and experience with the students. It is hoped that programmes such as this will continue in the future to strengthen collaboration between academic institutions and industry.
