Numboard Makes Numeracy Learning More Interactive withe RPTAR Community

PEKAN | 14 September 2026 – The Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS), Indonesia, successfully organised an International Community Service Programme themed “Enhancing Students’ Numeracy Skills Through the Utilization of Numboard: An IoT-Based Smart Geoboard at Learning Centers in Malaysia” at Rumah Penyayang Tun Abdul Razak (RPTAR), Pekan, Pahang.

The programme involved 13 children residing at RPTAR, who had the opportunity to explore a more interactive approach to numeracy learning through the use of Numboard, a smart geoboard based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The participants were also given the opportunity to experience the device first-hand by completing numeracy activities in a more engaging and enjoyable learning environment.

The programme also included a visit to the fish pond site developed through the UMPSA–RPTAR collaboration, as well as interaction and knowledge-sharing sessions involving the UNIMUS delegation, UMPSA representatives, and the RPTAR community.

The programme not only provided the RPTAR children with exposure to technology and innovative learning approaches, but also strengthened the university’s social responsibility initiatives and the international collaboration between UMPSA and UNIMUS. In addition, it provided a platform for preliminary discussions on the implementation of a two-way student mobility programme in the future.
