Knowledge Sharing at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY)

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Indonesia hosted Ts. Dr. Nurhafizah binti Abu Talip @ Yusof, FTKEE, as a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Engineering from 29 September to 3 October. The visit highlighted “waste to wealth” innovation aligned with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; and SDG 13: Climate Action, sharing knowledge across disciplines and linking materials, sustainability, and simple sensing/electronic applications.

Across five days, six classes and one seminar engaged students from Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Culinary & Fashion. Session themes included Material Sensor: Waste to Wealth in SDGs, Advanced Material in Civil Engineering, Natural Fiber/Composite for Electronic Applications, From Kitchen Waste to Smart Materials, Real-World Challenges in Outdoor Sensing, and Simulation & Design: From Constraints to Decisions. Active learning tools (polls, word clouds, and drawing) were used to encourage participation and idea generation.

Appreciation is extended to Prof. Dr. Mutiara Nugraheni (Dean, UNY Faculty of Engineering) and Dr. Ir. Drs. Totok Heru Tri Maryadi (Vice Dean) for their warm support, and to Dr. Henny Pratiwi for serving as a bridge between UMPSA and UNY. Thanks also go to Prof. Ts. Dr. Hamzah Ahmad (Dean, FTKEE–UMPSA) for the approval and support that enabled this teaching visit. The collaboration is hoped to grow into impactful academic exchanges and sustainable innovations.
