FTKEE UMPSA Professor Appointed as ASEAN Judge for AI and Emergency Management Competition in China

QINZHOU, CHINA – Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Kamarul Hawari Ghazali from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), was invited to serve as an ASEAN Judge for the 2026 China (Guangxi)–ASEAN “Artificial Intelligence + Emergency Management” Technology Innovation Competition, held in Qinzhou, Guangxi, China.

The competition brought together a wide range of innovations based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones, robotics, smart sensing, remote sensing and digital technologies for applications in disaster management, safety and emergency response.

As one of the panel of judges, Prof. Kamarul was involved in evaluating projects based on several aspects, including innovation, scenario suitability, technical strength, technology maturity and potential for real-world implementation.

His participation also provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing and further strengthened the UMPSA–China–ASEAN network, particularly in the areas of AI, intelligent systems and disaster management technologies.
