A community service programme titled “Software and Interactive Game Kick Start for Special Education Students”, funded under the CDU240124 Social Innovation Grant, was successfully conducted on 1 April 2026 at Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Vokasional (SMPKV) Kuantan.
The programme was led by Ts. Dr. Noorazliza Sulaiman, the principal investigator of the grant, and supported by Dr. Nurulfadzilah Hasan, Sulastri Abdul Manap, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Abdul Nasir Abd. Ghafar, Ts. Muhammad Ridzuan Rdin Muhamad Amin, and Dr. Noor Yahida Yahaya as co-researchers.
A total of 66 Special Education Needs Students (MBPK) from SMPKV Kuantan participated in the programme, along with 6 teachers, 2 instructors, and 23 facilitators from FTKEE UMPSA. The programme aimed to provide exposure to basic programming skills using suitable and accessible software tools.
In addition, the initiative sought to enhance students’ understanding and application of interactive and user-friendly software, such as the Scratch application, to explore and develop the potential of MBPK students.
During the programme, a collaboration agreement was also established between SMPKV Kuantan and FTKEE UMPSA, marking a significant step towards sustained partnership.
It is hoped that this collaboration and the initiatives carried out will have a positive and lasting impact on the development and empowerment of MBPK students.
