Strengthening Strategic Collaboration with Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC)
The Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), held a discussion session with a delegation from the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration in strengthening ties between academia and industry, particularly in the semiconductor field.
The discussion focused on the potential signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both parties, as well as opportunities for diploma and undergraduate students to undergo industrial training placements. The implementation of professional development training programmes for academic staff was also discussed, along with collaboration with semiconductor industry experts in curriculum development and research to ensure that academic content remains relevant to current industry needs.
The FTKEE delegation was led by Professor Ts. Dr. Hamzah Ahmad, Dean of FTKEE, together with Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Nurul Hazlina Noordin, Ts. Dr. Md Rizal Othman, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Technology, Ms. Zuryaty Zol, Manager, and Mrs. Nor Fadzillah Zulkipli, Executive.
The PSDC delegation was led by Dr. Hari Narayanan, Chief Executive Officer, accompanied by Mohd Hisham, Senior Manager (Government Relations), Parasathy C. Daivasigamani, Operations Lead, Penang Chip Design Academy, and Rajasegar Govindasamy, Senior Manager, Penang Chip Design Academy.
It is hoped that this discussion will serve as a catalyst for closer collaboration in producing high-quality graduates, strengthening human capital development, and supporting the growth of the national semiconductor industry.
