FTKEE UMPSA Professor Contributes to the Development and Launch of China–ASEAN Standards in China

Nanning, Guangxi, China | 12 October 2026

Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Kamarul Hawari Ghazali from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), was among the representatives involved in the formulation and development of China–ASEAN standards. He also participated as a representative in the official launch ceremony held in Nanning, China.

The launch took place in conjunction with the 2026 World Standards Day Promotional Event and the 3rd Guangxi Conference on High-Quality Group Standards, Science and Technology Awards, and Academic Exchange.

The programme was guided by the China Association for Standardization (CAS) and organised by the Guangxi Association for Standardization, in collaboration with various professional organisations in China. These included the Guangxi Federation of Enterprise Science and Technology, Guangxi Artificial Intelligence Society, Guangxi Meteorological Society, Guangxi Geographical Information Industry Association, Guangxi Big Data Technology Society, Guangxi Electric Power Industry Association and Guangxi Environmental Protection Industry Association.

UMPSA’s involvement through the expertise of an FTKEE professor in the development of China–ASEAN standards reflects the university’s role in contributing technical expertise and research to international standardisation initiatives. It also enhances UMPSA’s visibility as a higher education institution actively engaged in technological and innovation collaborations with international partners.

In a further achievement, Prof. Kamarul was entrusted with introducing and promoting the China–ASEAN standards in Malaysia, particularly among relevant government agencies, academic institutions and industry stakeholders.

This initiative creates opportunities for UMPSA to expand its strategic network with organisations in China and ASEAN, particularly in standard development, joint research, technology transfer and industrial collaboration.

Congratulations to Prof. Kamarul Hawari on this achievement and his contribution to strengthening UMPSA’s presence on the international stage!
