Final Year Project Exhibition Program for BVI Students

On May 16, 2025, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), UMPSA, successfully held the Final Year Project Exhibition for students of the Bachelor of Industrial Electronic Automation Technology with Honours (BVI). As part of the course BVI3125: System Integration Design, final-year students were tasked as turnkey providers to carry out the redevelopment and upgrading of the Bottling Manufacturing Station under a real industrial project framework. This station, which had not been in operation for nearly ten years, was revived through student-led efforts involving the restoration and enhancement of its control and monitoring systems.

Among the major milestones achieved was the upgrade of the control system from Omron CJ1M PLC to Siemens S7-1200, as well as the integration of Human Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA monitoring systems. The project covered more than 10 industrial processes, over 100 input/output devices, and involved configuring 50 SCADA tags—all contributing to a fully functional and modernized mini-plant system. The implementation was carried out using a Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach, where students were organized into groups based on core components such as Process, Electrical, SCADA, PLC, and HMI, simulating real industry roles and collaboration.

The exhibition provided students with a valuable platform to showcase their technical competencies, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in executing an industry-relevant project. The event was graced by the presence of Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Hamzah Bin Ahmad, Dean of FTKEE, who witnessed the remarkable outcomes of the students' hard work and innovation.
