Sulam Program: Knowledge Sharing on Embedded Systems and IoT with the Chenor KV Poultry Community

May 25, 2024 - The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) continues to expand, including in the agricultural sector. The introduction of automation and IoT in food production has become crucial as outlined by Strategic Thrust 1 in the 2021-2025 Food Security Policy Action Plan.

In line with this, FTKEE UMPSA, through the Bachelor of Industrial Electronics Automation Technology (BVI) program, conducted a knowledge-sharing activity related to embedded systems and IoT with the agrotechnology poultry section of Chenor Vocational College (Agriculture), Maran Pahang. FTKEE, as the entity with technological expertise, through the BVI program students, developed projects related to poultry farm management such as monitoring temperature, humidity, lighting, and noise levels within the coop. Additionally, students developed an automated egg counting and grading system.

Through this activity, BVI students gained real-field experience where the projects were tested. They encountered and solved various field-related problems, making them more resilient in completing projects. This aligns with the learning approach that extends beyond classroom education.

Moreover, FTKEE UMPSA students enhanced their interaction skills during the knowledge-sharing sessions with the agrotechnology poultry community regarding electronic systems, microcontrollers, and IoT. Overall, this program not only provided FTKEE UMPSA students the opportunity to share their expertise in embedded systems and IoT but also allowed them to learn about real-world issues in the poultry sector.
