Expedition Mobility Program in Indonesia Strengthens Bonds through Knowledge and Cultural Exchange

Bandung, Indonesia, 30th September 2024 – A delegation of 14 students from the BEL program at FTKEE, accompanied by Ts. Dr. Mohd Riduwan bin Ghazali, departed for Indonesia to participate in the Pure Expedition Program in Bandung, Indonesia.

The visit included a tour of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). ITB was represented by Dr. Ir. Mervin Tangguar Hutabarat, M.Sc., and Dr. Rahadian Yusuf, ST., MT., who shared insights about their institution’s learning system. The delegation also had the opportunity to explore ITB's facilities, such as the electrical & electronics laboratory, library, Final Year Project preparation rooms, lecture halls, and mosque.

An academic visit to Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) was also part of the program. UGM’s Engineering campus is a green campus that only permits electric vehicles, with no diesel or petrol vehicles allowed. The view around UGM’s main campus is vast and impressive.

The students also participated in disaster preparedness training related to natural disasters, led by Prof. Dr. Wiwit Suryanto, Vice Dean for Research and Collaboration at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UGM. The training included a session on instruments used for detecting earthquakes in Indonesia.

The program also included a visit to a local chocolate factory, where the students were exposed to various procedures and the use of machinery for producing high-quality chocolate.

A community service trip was made to Darul Anwar Madrasah in Jogja, where 14 copies of the Quran, donated by Nasyrul Quran (Wakaf Al-Quran), were given to the madrasah for the daily use of children and adults in their studies.
